With the help of the DiXi Group and the report data, the EITI verified the truth of the politician’s statement

During the review of Yulia Tymoshenko’s speech at the forum “New Policy of Ukraine”, Vox Check analysts used data from the Report of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (IETI) and the DiXi Group video.

Speaking at the Forum “New Policy of Ukraine”, the leader of “Batkivshchyna” (Motherland) said that the state has enough discovered reserves of gas, oil and coal. However, according to DiXi Group and EITI, at current pace of production Ukraine will have enough coal for 715 years, gas for 29 years, oil for more than 60 years.

“In order to achieve self-sufficiency, the state needs to increase its production, therefore, the current discovered reserves will suffice for an even smaller period. This is especially true for oil, where our import dependence is about 80%. That is, the resources of Ukraine are finite, as in any country”, noted in Vox Check materials.

Let us remind that on June 15 the forum “New Policy of Ukraine” took place in Kyiv, at which the leader of “Batkivshchyna” (Motherland) delivered a two-hour speech.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is an independent and voluntarily internationally supported transparency standard that is being implemented in 51 countries of the world. The goal of implementing EITI in Ukraine is to ensure transparency in the management of the country’s natural resources and the disclosure of government revenues, primarily for companies in the oil and gas sector, as well as coal and iron ore sectors. The DiXi Group consistently supports EITI as well as other standards for disclosure in the energy sector of Ukraine.
