Ukraine’s power system needs flexible generation to meet the needs of consumers

On 18 April, a roundtable discussion “Between War and EU Accession: How Ukraine can combine energy security and green recovery”, organised by DiXi Group experts and E3G (Third Generation Environmentalism) in the Chatham House Rule format.

During the discussion, DiXi Group experts showed the impact of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and how the situation in the energy sector has changed since the attacks in March this year. In addition, given the growing need for additional equipment and assistance, DiXi Group explained where support from foreign donors and partners is needed. The third part of the discussion was the presentation of the draft National Energy and Climate Plan, including the goals that Ukraine plans to achieve by 2030 as part of the green recovery.

Among the issues discussed by the roundtable participants were sanctions against Russia, particularly in the nuclear energy sector. Experts from the DiXi Group once again drew attention to the problems of cooperation between Western companies and Russian energy companies in foreign projects and the need for the extension of sanctions to such cooperation.

The event was organised by the DiXi Group together with E3G (Third Generation Environmentalism). The event was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the “Energy Sector Transparency Project”.
