The Line Parliament Committee Supported the Draft Law on Transparency in Extractive Industries
The Parliament Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe recommended MPs to adopt the draft Law No. 4840 “On Disclosure of Information in Extractive Industries” in the first reading.
“The current situation shows that additional steps need to be made in Ukraine to ensure disclosure of the required information. First of all, we talk about the information on how much and who pays to the state budget. This business, unlike other segments of business, depends on access to natural resources owned by the people of Ukraine”, said MP Olha Bielkova, co-author of the draft Law, at the meeting of the Committee. According to her, the ultimate aim of the document is enhancing responsibility of extractive companies.
As reported earlier, DiXi Group’s analysts invited MPs to support the draft Law No. 4840 aimed to make public as much information on profits and payments of oil, gas and coal producing companies as possible.
