Olena Pavlenko: We will Definitely Support Undertakings Ready for Disclosure

“There are undertakings in Ukraine that are ready for openness and fair play. And there are others that apparently have things to conceal. We will definitely support those companies that are ready to disclose information about them”, said DiXi Group’s President Mrs. Olena Pavlenko during the discussion that took place in the office of Ukraine Crisis Media Centre.

According to her, about 41% of domestic extractive companies refused to disclose their data last year in the course of preparing Ukraine’s first EITI Report.

“We need to move on and overcome barriers that we didn’t cope with last year. And we need relevant draft Laws for this”, said Mrs. Pavlenko.

As reported earlier, the Parliament Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe recommended MPs to adopt the draft Law No. 4840 “On Disclosure of Information in Extractive Industries” in the first reading.

Transparency is one of the key prerequisites for effective economic and market development, open competition, fair pricing, and formulation of balanced policy and regulation. Better information openness is also a safeguard against corruption.
