Olena Pavlenko: Ukraine and the EU continue the process of integrating gas and electricity markets
The European Union and Ukraine will continue the process of integrating gas and electricity markets by updating Annex 27 of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and ratifying the amendments via a decision of the Ukrainian parliament. This was discussed at a meeting presided by Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Vice Prime Minister for European Integration.
As the Vice Prime Minister informed the participants of meeting, in the near future, the Annex, which has already been approved by the European side, should be approved by the Ukrainian government. The document also should be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada after that.
The Vice Prime Minister approached the participants of the meeting with a proposal to assist the Government in this area. “I know that you, like no one else, understand the depth of this transformation process. It is for the first time that we are talking not just about the implementation of EU legislation but also about infrastructure and market integration,” she said, “it’s a real fuse for the irreversibility of our course.”
“We agreed to help explain what the document represents and how it works. In cases where it is necessary to explain to the general public and MPs why this decision should be taken as soon as possible, we will do it together,” said Olena Pavlenko, one of the meeting participants, President of the DiXi Group Analytical Center.
For reference: Annex 27 provides for the creation of new technical conditions, transparent tariffs and stability in energy supply in Ukraine, which will lead to an improvement in the quality of energy services in general.
