Olena Pavlenko took part in the EaP CSF Forum on Green agenda

DiXi Group President Olena Pavlenko participated in the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum as a working group member.

12th Annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum “EaP beyond 2020: renewing commitments to rights, security, and the green agenda” took place 7-10 December.

O. Pavlenko took part in the panel discussion ‘Trends in civil society sector development and effectively addressing the challenges of 2021 and beyond’. Participants discussed what changes has the year brought to the civil society landscape, what lessons from 2020 can we take into 2021 to be better equipped for upcoming challenges?

In her speech, O. Pavlenko analyzed energy consumption by consumer groups (mostly transport industry has to replace coal, transport has to replace oil, oil products, households have to replace gas).

“My thoughts that the industry should have access to funds but taking into account our history the procedures and transparency in reporting should be significantly improved – we need to have access to information on how the money is used, she said. – UA prime minister declared by decarbonization goal by 2070, but action plan with very clear benchmarks needs to be prepared. We believe that the adoption of NECPs should be as soon as possible».

Olena Pavlenko also spoke about the National opinion poll on whether the UA population supports a green agenda, more than 75% of citizens believe it is a government responsibility. Still, we need to remember that it is everyone’s responsibility.

“We should not tell people how good the Green Deal is, but to teach them how they can personally contribute,” she said.

Annual Assembly brings together 200 representatives of civil society organizations from the six EaP partner countries and the EU, as well as representatives from government, European institutions, and donor agencies. Due to the current circumstances, this year it took place entirely online on a digital platform.
