Olena Pavlenko participated in the presentation of the first EITI Report in Germany
Olena Pavlenko, President of the DiXi Group think tank, participated in the presentation of the first EITI Report in Germany held in Berlin on September 6, 2017. The document contains a contextual part, results and data reports and covers such sectors as extraction of sand, gravel, stone, brown coal, black coal, lime, rock salt etc.
The German Report relies in many parameters upon the EU Directives on transparency and accountability (Directive 2013/50/EU, Directive 2013/34/EU), which were adopted in Germany. Today, companies’ reporting for the EITI is voluntary, however disclosure of the same information is mandatory under the mentioned directives. Grant Thornton has become an Independent Administrator for the German EITI Report.
When congratulating Germany on the publication of the report, Olena Pavlenko, in particular, noted that, as the next step, it would be very important to distribute the report among the local communities and obtain their wishes about the information to be included in the next report. Ukraine and Germany could also combine their efforts, disseminate the reporting practice within the EITI among other European countries, as well as the neighbors.
The expert’s visit was made with the support of the German Government via Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
