Olena Pavlenko Joined the Development of Monitoring and Evaluating EITI in Ukraine

President of DiXi Group Think Tank Olena Pavlenko joined the discussion on the methodology for monitoring and evaluating the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Ukraine (EITI). The event was held for members of the Multilateral Stakeholder Group (MSG) and the EITI Secretariat, with the support of GIZ in Ukraine.

During two days, the participants of the discussion analyzed the state of the implementation of EITI in Ukraine, the impact of the Initiative on processes and decisions in the mining sector reform, and those areas on which the Multilateral Stakeholder Group should focus in the near future, so that the use of the Initiative would have the best and most effective impact on the reforms.

“It is necessary to hear all the parties from time to time – to what extent EITI really affects their activities and priorities. Such discussions allow us to focus on the areas which are most important for all, to identify the priority areas. I hope that the priorities we have identified will further bring together the stakeholders around Initiatives and production reforms in Ukraine” Olena Pavlenko emphasized.

It should be reminded that in December 2017, within the framework of MSG, a decision was made to launch the monitoring and evaluation of EITI implementation, and a separate working group was set up on this issue.

International Energy Transparency Index 2020: sector openness test – positive or negative?

Transparency is one of the key prerequisites for effective economic and market development, open competition, fair pricing, and formulation of balanced policy and regulation. Better information openness is also a safeguard against corruption.
