Olena Pavlenko Attended a Hearing at the European Parliament
President of the DiXi Group Olena Pavlenko attended a hearing Association Agreements, Beyond Rhetoric at the European Parliament dedicated to the progress of implementing Association Agreements in Ukraine and Moldova. Among other things, such topics as energy, combating corruption, cross-border cooperation, political dialog, and human rights were discussed during the Ukrainian panel.
While speaking about the current situation in the energy sector, Olena Pavlenko noted that, according to the Energy Reforms Coalition, the Association Agreement is implemented most quickly in the gas field and the biggest delays are observed in relation to oil and renewable energy sources. She also demonstrated how Ukraine’s gas supply sources have changed throughout the last three years and how much the European business is interested in the Ukrainian energy market.
Olena Pavlenko drew specific attention to the situation concerning North Stream 2 and the need to prevent the construction of bypassing gas pipelines that politically divide the EU. “Even disregarding the economic factors, we can see now that some EU members are indignant towards the others with respect to gas transportation from third countries, and this definitely does not contribute to the EU’s “one voice” policy. Maybe, it is a good idea to reconsider whether third countries should be provided with such leverages,” she said.
