EU-UA CSP is developing recommendations for improving food security
Experts from the Ukrainian side of the EU- Ukraine Civil Society Platform (EU-UA CSP) have discussed recommendations for improving food security in the country. This topic was discussed during the round table meeting “How to Guarantee Ukraine’s Food Security: Finding Solutions”.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Social Policy, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy and representatives of the public.
“Food security is more than just providing people with a sufficient quantity of food products. It also relates to their quality, financial affordability and the conditions under which these products are produced. These are questions that should be considered and taken into account by everyone, starting with government and ending with the public”, Olena Pavlenko, Co-Chairperson of the EU-UA CSP and President of DiXi Group Think Tank, noted.
The relevant report should be developed by the Ukrainian side of the Platform and presented at a joint meeting of the Ukrainian and European sides of the Platform in April 2019 in Lviv.
As previously reported, in October last year Olena Pavlenko was elected Co-chairman of the EU-UA CSP. In March 2019, she presented the Platform’s position at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of the Association, held in Strasbourg (France) on 13-14 March 2019.
