DiXi Group: to journalists about energy

DiXi Group experts and Ukrainian Energy journalists attended “How to Learn More about Energy and the Environment?” training held on 29 November in Kyiv. During the training, journalists of nationwide publications in economics and regional mass media had the opportunity to learn how to correctly cover energy-related events and make their coverage interesting, how to correctly use terminology, how to navigate through energy legislation. DiXi Group Research Director Roman Nitsovych explained general aspects of the gas sector’s operation, the unbundling and new terms of gas transit via Ukraine. The journalists were also explained where to look for information, how to verify and use it in their materials, based on the example of Ukrainian Energy publication (ua-energy.org) and the Online Map of the Energy Sector (map.ua-energy.org). During open discussions and group classes, the journalists could discuss contemporary matters of the energy sector and receive professional commentaries from experts. In particular, they discussed the topics of subsidy monetization, new rules of the electricity market, organization of “green” auctions in Ukraine, formation of environmental policy. The attendees also took part in several energy-related contests. This training devoted to the basics of journalism in the energy and environmental sectors was organized by DiXi Group with participation of EU and UNDP Ukraine representatives.
