DiXi Group President speaking in Berlin about the consequences of Nord Stream 2 for Europeans
DiXi Group President Olena Pavlenko took part in the international conference “Putin’s Nord Stream 2 and its real price for Europe” held in Berlin on 10 October. The event, organized by Free Russia Foundation, was focused on the consequences for European countries after construction of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be completed. In particular, the attendees discussed how this topic is perceived by Germany’s political and journalistic environment, what European ecologists think about environmental impact of the pipeline’s construction and what their Russian colleagues are warning about. “Presently, construction of Nord Stream 2 is going into “overdrive”. However, some German citizens are already starting to ask questions: how gas revenues which Russia receives are used and why human rights in this country are so routinely abused; how strongly the extraction of gas in Yamal and other regions impacts the environment and destroys ecosystems and why those areas are closed for any outsider,” Olena Pavlenko shared her impressions from speeches at the conference. “It is important to convey truth about the situation in Russia, as well as about strategic losses for the EU from the construction of Nord Stream 2. Nobody will do this job for us but only us. The event was held as part of Rethink The Deal campaign that unites ecologists, economists and human rights activists around the subject of impact from the Nord Stream 2 project and the threats it poses to freedom and unity in Europe. The conference’s organizer, Free Russia Foundation, strives to consolidate efforts aimed to restore freedom and democracy in Russia.
