On October 5, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the implementation of international financial reporting standards, which should ensure greater transparency and accountability in extractive industries for investors and local communities.

The document contains a contextual part, results and data reports and covers such sectors as extraction of sand, gravel, stone, brown coal, black coal, lime, rock salt etc.

During her speech on the second day of "EITI in Ukraine: How to Manage Resources Efficiently" conference, Olena Pavlenko, President of DiXi Group's Think Tank and Deputy Chairperson of the Multi-Stakeholder Group, noted that failed voting on the transparency bill was displeasing but it was a good chance to improve the document.

President of the DiXi Group Olena Pavlenko attended a hearing Association Agreements, Beyond Rhetoric at the European Parliament dedicated to the progress of implementing Association Agreements in Ukraine and Moldova. Among other things, such topics as energy, combating corruption, cross-border cooperation, political dialog, and human rights were discussed during the Ukrainian panel.

The second Ukrainian report according to the standards of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) will be much more detailed than the first one. In particular, it covers a number of additional industries, namely production of coal, iron, titanium and manganese ores. That was mentioned by Roman Nitsovych, the Project Manager of DiXi Group Think Tank, at the Extractive Industries Transparency for Improving the Quality of Life of Communities Conference held on February 13 in Lviv.

A Regular "Energy Breakfast" which took place on February 10 at the initiative of the DiXi Group Think Tank brought together representatives of the three Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – on Fuel and Energy Complex, on Urban Development, Housing and Utility Services, and on European Integration, Johannes Baur, a representative of the Support Group for Ukraine, European Commission, and leading public experts. The goal of the latest informal meeting was to determine the main short-term goals for the implementation of European legislation in the field of energy. Olena Pavlenko, President of DiXi Group, acted as the moderator of the discussions.
