More and more countries all over the world join the extractive industries transparency initiative. Thus, one of the world’s largest markets — U.S. — has at last implemented the country-by-country reporting provisions set by the Dodd-Frank Act back six years ago.
President of DiXi Group think tank Olena Pavlenko participated in the discussion of “Reforms in Ukraine and Drives thereof: What’s the Most Effective Way to Organize Cooperation between Public Authorities and NGOs?” that was organized by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Think Tank Fund.
The Parliament Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe recommended to adopt the draft Law “On Disclosure of Information in Extractive Industries” in the first reading.
“There are undertakings in Ukraine that are ready for openness and fair play. And there are others that apparently have things to conceal. We will definitely support those companies that are ready to disclose information about them”, said DiXi Group’s President Mrs. Olena Pavlenko during the discussion that took place in the office of Ukraine Crisis Media Centre.
DiXi Group think tank was mentioned among successful cases in the report “Independent think tanks and government: Partners in promoting reforms or two parallel worlds?”.
DiXi Group’s analysts participated in the presentation “Ukraine and the Association Agreement: Monitoring of Implementation in 2014–2016” as independent reviewers of the relevant study.

Recent high-profile arrests in the cases on gas misappropriation and money laundering are another reason to put things right in the extractive industry. DiXi Group analysts have already described the most widely known deals in their study “Game of Gas Thrones: presentation of the most widespread “schemes” in gas production”. The document was also disseminated within the National Anti-corruption Bureau, and we hope that investigators have made correct conclusions.
The concept of the state target economic program of reforming the coal industry by 2020 developed by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry needs to be improved.
