- Within a week, electricity supply was restored to more than 350,000 consumers – the Ministry of Energy.
- The explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant resulted in the flooding of 30% of the Kherson region’s nature reserve and the loss of water resources worth $14 billion – Minister of Environmental Protection Svitlana Hrynchuk.
- On 6 January, the 35th IAEA mission began work at the Pivdennoukrainsk NPP to monitor nuclear and radiation safety in the face of Russian aggression.
- Draft Law No. 6013, aimed at corporatizing state–owned and municipal enterprises and increasing their transparency, was passed in the second reading.
- The Verkhovna Rada also passed a law to restore the system of monitoring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas emissions.
- Last week, Ukraine’s commercial electricity exports increased by 9% to 12.8 GWh, while imports fell by 25% to 55.3 GWh. Due to the warming weather, no load shedding was applied.
- Over the week, the Base DAM index increased to UAH 5,582.6/MWh (+16.2%).
- The Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Energy approved the so–called ‘energy independence passports’ for each region of Ukraine. These passports show the regional potential of distributed generation and will help develop related action plans.
- Ukrenergo is preparing a tender for the construction of 1,400 MW of new generating facilities (highly flexible plants with quick ramp–up), with their expected commissioning by the end of 2027.
- Ukrainian companies have injected 1 million cubic metres of biomethane into underground gas storage facilities; exports to the EU will begin with the accumulation of larger volumes – Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.
- The Verkhovna Rada registered a bill to ban Russian oil and gas transit through Ukraine.
- Ukraine has attracted EUR 3 billion from the EU to the state budget, which will be secured by the incomes from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation – the Ministry of Finance.
