  • The Ministry of Energy announced a set of measures to prepare the power system for a projected 1 GW increase in consumption due to the August heat wave, including adjusting maintenance schedules for power generation facilities, increasing electricity imports, and maximizing domestic power generation.
  • The Cabinet of Ministers expanded the preferential lending program for households with partial principal compensation, extending it to cover the purchase and installation of equipment for autonomous and backup heat supply.
  • Energoatom reported that in the first half of 2026, Ukrainian nuclear power plants generated 26,820.1 GWh of electricity, which is 163.1 GWh more than during the same period last year.
  • The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) reported that since 2024, technical specifications for grid connection have been issued for nearly 6.8 GW of new generation capacity, of which approximately 1.6 GW has already been commissioned or is in the final stages of commissioning.
  • The Regulator will conduct unscheduled inspections of 11 gas distribution system operators due to possible violations in the metering and transmission of data on natural gas consumption by household customers.
  • The EBRD and the city of Kyiv signed a loan agreement for up to EUR 50 million to support the liquidity of the municipal enterprise “Kyivteploenergo” and ensure uninterrupted heat supply.
  • The Cabinet of Ministers updated the charter of JSC “NAEK Energoatom,” revising the powers of management bodies, corporate governance procedures, the internal control system, and specific requirements for the activities of the management board and supervisory board.
  • The NEURC increased the transmission tariff charged by “Ukrenergo” by 25% to 928.45 UAH/MWh effective August 1. The preferential transmission tariff for “green” electrometallurgy enterprises was raised by 50% to 563.26 UAH/MWh.
  • A draft law has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada that comprehensively updates the rules for granting subsoil use rights through electronic auctions and production-sharing agreements. The document provides for increased transparency in auctions and tenders, the introduction of additional guarantees for investors, improvements to PSA implementation mechanisms, and a number of amendments to land, subsoil, and oil and gas legislation.
