Extract the Truth: Dixi Group Released a Video on the EITI
In order to emphasize the importance and relevance of the first Ukrainian report under the EITI Standard to be published in coming weeks, DiXi Group Analytical Centre released a video, urging to review the report to combat corruption in the oil and gas sector.
The video is aimed at raising awareness of Ukrainian public of the EITI and was created with support of the World Bank and the International Renaissance Foundation.
The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is an international independent and voluntary standard to promote transparency, implemented in 48 countries throughout the world (2014). The EITI requires to perform an audit of payments, made by companies, and of revenues, received by governments for development of domestic natural resources.
In September 2009, Ukraine committed to implement the EITI, having approved the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1098 “On Ukraine’s Accession to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative”. Later, these intentions have been confirmed by arrangements with the IMF and the EU and within the framework of the Open Government Partnership.
