- Russia’s military continued targeted strikes on energy infrastructure. On July 6, 100,400 consumers were disconnected from power supply due to an attack on a facility in the Sumy region.
- On July 8, a massive Russian missile attack on Kyiv destroyed or damaged 3 transformer substations.
- The Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo warned of intensified information attacks, in particular fake news about the alleged introduction of “zonal outages”.
- Planned restrictions on industrial and residential consumption in the form of scheduled outages were applied for 92% hours of the week.
- The government streamlined public procurement for measures aimed at the protection of energy facilities, which can be performed without the open bidding procedure.
- Ukrnafta plans to build 1,000 MW of gas–fired generation in three years, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to
invest in the deployment of 250 MW of power plants. - A pilot auction to allocate support quotas for the development of 100 MW new RES capacity could take place this year – so Andrii Gerus, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Utilities.
- Ukraine negotiates on the supply of gas from Azerbaijan to the EU, seeking to preserve its role as a transit country – so the President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
- NEFCO allocated 25 million EUR to restore key infrastructure in 5 cities.
