DiXi Group continues to work on a project that will facilitate green transition in cities
Back in October 2024, DiXi Group Think Tank joined the new ANEW-LIFE project, which is being implemented with the support of the European Union.
The main objective of the project is to promote the implementation of green energy initiatives at the level of municipalities in Ukraine, as well as to develop financial mechanisms for their implementation.
Together with our partners, we will develop and test financial mechanisms to modernise energy infrastructure and reduce emissions. First, in three pilot cities, and then we plan to expand this experience to 10 more Ukrainian and 10 European cities.
So far, inception workshops have been held in three project cities: Nizhyn, Kalush, and Zhytomyr. At these meetings, the project participants discussed the needs of Ukrainian cities for a sustainable energy transition, available financial instruments for the development of clean energy in Ukraine, and strategies and plans for sustainable development after the project.
During the events, DiXi Group’s General Manager for Sustainable Development, Viktoriia Kovalenko, spoke about the role of our think tank in the project.
Together with our partners, we will
- support the implementation of energy efficiency projects in three pilot cities, which are pre-identified by our consortium partners and will be financed through the mechanisms developed within the project;
- develop monitoring and evaluation systems to track the impact and progress towards achieving energy efficiency and sustainable development goals from the implementation of the above projects;
- ensure the dissemination of relevant knowledge and best practices gained during the project implementation at the local level, as well as create a strategy for the implementation of the developed financial mechanisms in other communities of Ukraine.
According to Viktoriia Kovalenko, the basis for the sustainable implementation of energy efficiency initiatives is the availability of an approved energy efficiency plan (e.g., a local energy plan), its step-by-step implementation, and the availability of energy management services (for project implementation and implementation).
‘Institutional development, inter-municipal partnerships, exchange of experience, and participation in international projects are very important for communities. We should also not forget about the promotion of energy efficiency measures and the importance of the transition to clean energy for the population of communities. Adherence to these recommendations will create the basis for ensuring the long-term implementation of the financing mechanisms developed by the project,’ she stressed.
The project is being jointly implemented by DiXi Group, Ecoclub, Global 100% RE Ukraine, as well as Zhytomyr, Nizhyn and Kalush. The Ukrainian partners will, among other things, identify the most relevant projects for the pilot cities, engage all stakeholders at the local and national levels, evaluate the project’s impact, and disseminate relevant experience and best practices.
The international partners are organisations and companies from Germany, Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, and Romania. This partnership allows us to combine European experience in clean energy (EnGreen, Blue Energy Revolution, FifthVOLT, Climate Alliance) and the financial sector (AFIN Alternative Financing IFN, Enersave Capital) to support Ukrainian cities in developing and implementing their own strategies and plans for a green transition.
The project will run until 30 September 2027.
