- The National Anticorruption Bureau NABU of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) report on the special operation “Midas” to expose corruption in the energy sector. According to preliminary information, investigators have uncovered a high-level criminal group that demanded kickbacks of 10-15% from Energoatom suppliers. Anti-corruption authorities are also investigating the embezzlement of approximately UAH 100 million during the construction of a spent
nuclear fuel storage facility. In addition, the deputy head of Atomenergomash (a subsidiary of Energoatom) has been detained on suspicion of demanding UAH 6.6 million and receiving a bribe of UAH 1.67 million. - In its report as part of the 2025 Enlargement Package, the European Commission noted Ukraine’s consistent progress in implementing energy reforms and bringing its legislation closer to EU standards, assessing its level of preparedness under Section 15 “Energy” as “4 – good.” Among the achievements are the development of draft laws on the implementation of the REDIII Directive and the strengthening of the Regulator’s powers, as well as the adoption of the State Program for Energy Modernization of Heat Generating Enterprises until 2030. At the same time, the European Commission called on Ukraine to gradually remove price restrictions on the electricity market and public service obligations (PSO) on the gas market, strengthen harmonization in the field of RES, complete adaptation to EU regulations on security of gas and electricity supply and minimize political influence on state-owned enterprises.
- For the first time in six months, the Zaporizhzhya NPP regained access to backup power supply from the grid after connecting the second repaired 330 kV Ferosplavna-1 line, according to the IAEA.
- Commercial electricity exports from Ukraine fell by 89.2% compared to the previous week and amounted to 3.9 GWh. Imports, in turn, decreased by 2.3% to 101 GWh.
- The NEURC published two draft resolutions on setting tariffs for Ukrenergo for 2026 – for electricity transmission and dispatch control. The transmission tariff is proposed to be set at 786.74 UAH /MWh (+14.65% to the current one), and the dispatch management tariff – at 110.15 UAH/MWh (+11.3%).
- Last week, LLC “Operator of the Gas Transmission System of Ukraine” purchased 553.8 GWh of gas on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange (5.7 times more than the previous week) at an average weighted price of 39.4 EUR per MWh (+2.5%).
- Naftogaz and the Polish company ORLEN agreed on new deliveries of up to 300 mcm of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine.
