- Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees imposing personal and sectoral sanctions against 35 individuals and legal entities associated with the Russian state corporation Rosatom and other energy structures of the Russian Federation.
- Commercial electricity exports from Ukraine decreased by 7% compared to the previous week and amounted to 45.8 GWh. Imports, in turn, increased by 15% to 111.7 GWh.
- The NEURC approved amendments to the Market Rules, which introduce the possibility of transferring obligations of ancillary service (AS) providers to different AS units, subject to compliance with technical requirements and with the approval of the transmission system operator.
- The Regulator published a draft resolution on amendments to the Investment Program of NPC Ukrenergo for 2025, which provides for an increase in its funding from UAH 2.98 billion to UAH 3.77 billion.
- The District Court of Vienna allowed Naftogaz to enforce a 2023 arbitration award to recover more than USD 5 billion from Russia for illegally seized assets in Crimea. The court ruled to encumber and auction more than 20 Russian properties in Austria with a total value of more than EUR 120 million.
- On the night of August 6, Russia launched a massive drone strike on the compressor station in Odesa region near the border with Romania, which is part of the route for the supply of LNG from Greek terminals and Azerbaijani gas to Ukrainian storage facilities through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline.
- On August 8, the EU Council voted to approve a tranche for Ukraine worth about EUR 3.1 billion under the EU’s Ukraine Facility programme.
