  • On July 4, ZNPP lost all offsite power for several hours as a result of Russian strikes on the last power line that supplied the plant. The line was restored by Ukrainian power engineers the same day.
  • The Ministry of Environment unveiled the draft law “On the Principles of Green Recovery of Ukraine,” which, among other things, provides for the integration of the EU green taxonomy into Ukrainian legislation.
  • The Cabinet of Ministers approved the MediumTerm Plan of Priority Public Investments for 20262028, which provides for the allocation of UAH 120 billion for energy projects.
  • Commercial electricity exports from Ukraine in the reporting week increased by 19% to 100.9 GWh. Imports, in turn, decreased by 14% to 30.4 GWh.
  • The authorized capacity of electricity exports from Ukraine and Moldova to the EU was increased from 650 MW to 900 MW by August 1. The limit will be reviewed monthly starting in August.
  • The Cabinet of Ministers registered a draft law No13444, which will harmonize the Ukrainian system of guarantees of origin of electricity (GoOs) with the requirements of EU Directive 2018/2001 and pave the way for the recognition of Ukrainian GoOs in the EU.
  • The draft law No13450 “On Infrastructure Projects of Public Interest in the Energy Sector”, transposing Regulation (EU) 2022/869 on guidelines for transEuropean energy infrastructure, was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.
  • The Ukrainian and Polish gas transmission system operators agreed to extend the temporary increase in the firm capacities from Poland to Ukraine (12.4 mcm/d) until September 2026.
  • Naftogaz signed a contract with Poland’s ORLEN to supply an additional 140 mcm of US LNG, bringing the total volume of agreements between companies in 2025 to 440 mcm.
  • On July 1, the State Budget of Ukraine received the ninth tranche of about USD 500 million from the IMF under the fouryear Extended Fund Facility program.
  • South Korea announced the launch of a new Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP) to support the restoration and modernization of infrastructure in Ukraine; the program provides USD 10 million for up to 25 infrastructure initiatives.
