  • As a result of the aggressor’s attacks on Zaporizhzhia, more than 20,000 consumers were left without electricity, and Russian shelling in Kherson resulted in the disconnection of another 32,000 consumers.
  • A satellite analysis by the international environmental organization Greenpeace revealed that Russians are building a new power line in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories to illegally restart the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
  • Commercial electricity exports for the week decreased by 21% to 27.1 GWh, while electricity imports doubled to 38.7 GWh.
  • The monthly Base BCM (bilateral contracts market) index for June was formed at 4,449.4 UAH/MWh (+14.5% compared to the index of May).
  • The average hourly price of electricity on the day-ahead market (DAM Base index) increased to 3,912.6 UAH/MWh (+3%) over the week. The total volume of electricity sold on the Ukrainian day-ahead market amounted to 531.4 GWh (+0.7% compared to the previous week).
  • The NEURC extended the current price caps on the day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets.
  • The Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo satisfied the application for resignation of CEO Igor Syrota, who is leaving the company after 15 years of service.
  • At the fourth long-term ancillary services special auction, Ukrenergo accepted 249 MW of automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) from 52 bidders, who have to build and certify their own facilities by November 2026 and start providing ancillary services from December 1, 2026.
  • Physical imports of gas from Hungary during the reporting week (May 25-31) amounted to 64.1 mcm (+2.8% WoW), from Poland – to 41.1 mc (-1.1%), from Moldova – to 1.4 mcm (+16.3%) and from Slovakia – to 41.1 mcm (2.2 times more than the previous week). 
  • As of May 31, 2.03 bcm of gas was accumulated in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) (6.7% of the total working capacity), injections into the storages in the reporting week was equal to 301.8 mcm (+24.5% WoW).
  • The NEURC adopted a resolution that enables to launch monthly auctions on the RBP platform for booking firm capacities at the Grebenyky, Kaushany and Orlivka/Isaaccea interconnection points of the TransBalkan Corridor, applying the “single price” algorithm and tariff reduction factors. This decision allowed Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC, together with the gas TSOs of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova, to offer a single transit product ROUT1 with a 25% discount.
