  • Connecting the commitment to stop Nord Stream 2 to the possible full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine is a distraction from the actual threats posed by the implementation of this project to the European gas market…
  • Substantial electricity imports from Belarus allow to somewhat increase the coal stocks at thermal power plants… The dismissal of the head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate (SNRI) can serve as another indication of the “energy” regulators being vulnerable to political decisions…
  • Ukraine’s achievements in transparency of the extractive sector are recognized internationally, whereas development of the sector itself remains the subject of manual government regulation… At the same time, certain legislative initiatives related to extractive industries raise questions as regards their feasibility…
  • Amid the moderate growth of debts owed by district heating companies (DHCs) to Naftogaz, the government began paying compensations for the difference in heat tariffs, which shall improve their financial situation. However, the disbursement of these funds lacks transparency…
