  • On the night of June 15, Russia carried out another massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with the capital as the main target. In total, the enemy launched 70 missiles and 611 drones, leaving 140,000 consumers in Kyiv without power supply.
  • European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the allocation of EUR 75 million in grant aid for the restoration of the New Safe Confinement at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged as a result of Russian attacks.
  • The average implementation rate of regional energy resilience plans is about 40% — Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
  • The government approved the Medium-Term Plan for Priority Public Investments for 2027–2029 with total funding of UAH 270.9 billion, identifying the energy sector as one of the priority sectors, for which UAH 17.1 billion in investments is allocated.
  • The Supervisory Board of Energoatom announced an international competition for the position of chairman of the company’s board.
  • The Cabinet of Ministers introduced a pilot mechanism for long-term electricity purchase contracts, which will allow businesses to lock in prices for a quarter, half a year, or a year in advance through auctions involving NAEK “Energoatom” and PJSC “Ukrhydroenergo.”
  • The government increased the capacity offered for selection in the competition for the construction of new generating facilities from 1,322 MW to 1,505 MW, adding 183 MW to the Dnipropetrovsk region to improve the reliability of electricity supply and the stability of the power grid in the frontline region.
  • As of June 18, 1,806.3 MW of distributed gas-fired generation has been commissioned in Ukraine, with another 522.8 MW under construction; most of these projects are expected to be completed in the fall of 2026, according to Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.
  • Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko instructed the Ministry of Finance to prepare proposals on utilizing state-owned banks’ resources to support Naftogaz of Ukraine in its preparations for the upcoming heating season.
  • The United Kingdom announced that it would provide GBP 210 million in support in the form of loan guarantees through UK Export Finance (UKEF), which will enable Urenco to supply enriched uranium for the needs of NAEK “Energoatom.”
