Maria Melnyk, Specialist for European Integration Programs, DiXi Group Analytical Centre, represented Ukraine during two EITI events in Mongolia. The first event was EITI National Forum which took place on November, 3–4 in Ulaanbaatar. The second event was the Eurasia Regional Meeting within the framework of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) which took place on November, 5–6.

During both events, representatives of the member countries had the opportunity to exchange their experience in implementation of the Initiative in their specific environment. In particular, presentations dealt with the need for visualisation of EITI data and different ways of submission and processing of EITI report data. “It helped understand main ways of report publication”, told Maria Melnyk.

Presentation also focused on another topic — discussion of key achievements in the current year.

“Such meetings are extremely useful in terms of capacity building and exchange of experience among participants. The EITI Eurasia Regional Meeting provided a lot of useful information; in particular, it helped understand the main principles and the need for disclosure of beneficiary owners as well as ways of processing and submission of EITI report data; it also helped determine the ways for expansion of EITI influence in the country”, commented Maria Melnyk.

Eight countries took part in the Eurasia Regional Meeting and in EITI Forum. Apart from DiXi Group, Ukraine was represented by VladyslavDaineko, Energy Transparency Association.

The trip was sponsored by the International Renaissance Foundation.
