Olena Lapenko, General Manager for Security and Sustainability, participated in a closed roundtable discussion with representatives of European governments and leading institutions in Prague.
At the meeting, the expert raised one of the key challenges facing the sanctions policy against Russia and Belarus, which our analytical center consistently advocates, namely, the effective promotion of appropriate restrictions through national governments. Countries make decisions on the implementation and enforcement of sanctions at various levels, including business, and have the tools to neutralize existing loopholes.
DiXi Group argues that such loopholes for the Russian energy sector must be completely closed, because without this, the sanctions policy will not be able to adequately prevent Russia from financing its war against Ukraine.
Our think tank calls for the elimination of loopholes in sanctions regarding:
- the activities of the state corporation Rosatom;
- trade in liquefied natural gas and oil.
The general manager has forwarded our think tank’s detailed proposals to representatives of the Czech government, who in turn have the opportunity to present them to the European Commission.
We are convinced that DiXi Group’s vision has added important insights to the professional discussion, whose participants agreed on the need to strengthen coordination between EU countries and partners in the context of energy sanctions, as well as monitoring and control of their compliance.
