According to data from NEURC, published on the Energy Map portal, Ukraine’s gross natural gas consumption in 2025 totaled 21.0 billion cubic meters (bcm). The largest consumer segment was households, which accounted for 7.6 bcm, or 36% of the total.

The second-largest segment was industry and other consumers, accounting for 5.0 bcm (24%). District heating companies supplying heat to households consumed 3.9 bcm of gas (18%), while those serving other consumers (including public sector institutions) used 2.5 bcm (12%).

Another approximately 2 bcm (10%) are attributed to losses – an estimated figure calculated as the difference between gross gas consumption and the total final consumption across all consumer categories.

Compared to 2024, gross consumption decreased by 4%, and compared to 2021 – by 31%.

Compared to 2024, gas consumption by district heating companies for household needs increased (+17%). Household consumption also increased (+6%). At the same time, consumption by district heating companies serving other consumers declined by 16%, while industry and other consumers reduced their consumption by 12%.

Compared to 2021, the last year before the russia’s full-scale invasion, gas consumption by industry and other consumers more than halved (-54%). Gas use by district heating companies supplying households also decreased by 24%, while household consumption fell by 12%. Meanwhile, gas consumption by district heating companies serving other consumers increased by 47%.
