Information transparency of energy markets in Ukraine can be compared in dynamics on the website
An interactive website presenting major parameters of the Energy Transparency Index was developed under USAID’s Energy Sector Transparency project implemented by DiXi Group. Data is available in Ukrainian and English.
The Energy Transparency Index is an instrument for comprehensive assessment of availability and quality of information in the energy sector. It allows to analyze transparency of energy markets by particular categories, markets and other measures. This year’s Energy Transparency Index features 210 indicators based on the national and European legislations and the world’s best information disclosure practices.
The progress of particular indicators for the most recent years of analysis, 2019 and 2020, can be tracked on the https://index.ua-energy.org/ website.
“Therefore, this website provides a broader coverage and allows users to easily navigate through the results of annual multidimensional assessments, view dynamics, and identify concrete gaps in the sector’s transparency,” DiXi Group expert Bohdan Serebrennikov says.
“For example, dynamics of transparency assessments by categories indicate that during 2020, progress was achieved in the overwhelming majority of categories except one: “Balances”, where the situation remains unchanged. And a diagram of information openness of particular markets shows that the electricity market was the most transparent in Ukraine in 2020 (scoring 66 out of 100 points), surging ahead of the gas market comparing to 2019.”
The website’s content is geared toward stakeholders affiliated with the energy sector, stimulating development of open, competitive, fair energy markets.
