DiXi Group helps create an online instrument for NEURC

The online instrument “List of electricity suppliers active in the territory of distribution system operators” was presented in October by NEURC and DiXi Group. This instrument will help electricity consumers quickly find suppliers which joined distribution agreements with system operators concerned in a particular region of Ukraine.

This list is presented in the form of online map containing unified reference information: website address, EDRPOU and EIC codes. In the past, one had to look for this information separately on the websites of distribution system operators (DSPs).

“The regulatory agency gathers a huge amount of information about energy companies and their activity, which opens a lot of opportunities to make life of both business and household consumers easier. Creation of this interactive instrument represents only a small step in this direction, and it is very good that the initiative comes from within, not forced from the outside,” DiXi Group’s Open Data Manager Andrii Bilous said. “At the very least, it indicates the desire to create services for citizens and businesses. But as usual, the question is whether there are “spare hands” available for it. Opening quality, structured data is not an easy task, but it is critically important for the creation of services, and we are happy to help NEURC with that.”

Updating the instrument’s reference base will be the responsibility of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC). Adding more information about companies in the future would allow to rank them, thus making this service more efficient.

Creation of the interactive “List of electricity suppliers active in the territory of distribution system operators” became possible thanks to the support from the United States Agency for International Development, provided via USAID Energy Sector Transparency project implemented by DiXi Group.

The “List of electricity suppliers active in the territory of distribution system operators” is available here: http://www.nerc.gov.ua/electricity_suppliers/.

The practice of procuring special extraction permits and then sitting idle on them for decades is unacceptable from the viewpoint of Ukraine’s energy independence and national security, raising budget revenues and the country’s investment attractiveness.
