The long preparation for the heating season, provided by the warm autumn weather, ended with a sharp drop in temperature. The government this year is widely advertising the program to obtain loans for energy efficiency, the Prime Minister said about this issue in one of his weekly addresses. However, along with this, the government once again could not hold a large-scale information campaign on the basic awareness of energy efficiency, said the DiXi Group expert Anton Antonenko.
“State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine are doing helpful job, representing the state program of energy efficiency loans. But it’s not enough. For a successful energy efficiency policy both tools are needed: to promote program of energy efficiency loans and to inform citizens about the basic steps to effective energy consumption and savings. However, this year the government was unable to launch an information campaign on basic steps to energy saving and efficient energy consumption. Therefore, high tariffs remain the only effective tool.
Wide information campaign would inform people how they can save heat and improve the energy efficiency of their own homes. It was just the time on the eve of the heating season for such information campaign. Instead of it, politicians were too busy with the election campaign to local council. By the way, the very burning issue of efficient energy consumption is not reflected in numerous ads with promises.”
