On April 5, a meeting on amendments to the Treaty establishing the Energy Community, initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry and supported by DiXi Group think tank, took place.
The meeting at the Ministry was held to develop a reasoned position of the Ukrainian party in the Energy Community, where discussions on amendments to the Treaty continue. The amendments have to be approved by the end of the year.
According to the chairperson of the meeting Mykhailo Bno-Ayriyan, Director of the Department for Strategic Planning and European Integration of the Ministry, such meetings should establish better coordination among government authorities. "For this purpose, we hold regular meetings of the Multi-stakeholder working group, discussions with experts and civil society, and have initiated an interagency group at the government level", he said.
Participants of the meeting – representatives of government authorities and civil society expertsd – have worked out approaches to a number of issues. In particular, on compliance with the EU climate policy objectives, oversight of state aid, cooperation between regulators, as well as important changes to procedures.
Organizational support of the event by DiXi Group was provided in framework of the project " Improving implementation of Ukraine’s commitments within the Energy Community through enhancing impact of civil society", implemented by DiXi Group jointly with the Resource & Analysis Center "Society and Environment", and funded by the European Union.
