Olena Pavlenko from the Eastern Partnership Forum: “We have a lot of topics for cooperation”

DiXi Group representatives participated in the annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Forum bringing together representatives of civil society.

The attendees of the Forum held on 4-6 December in Brussels worked out recommendations for the updated neighborhood policy between the EU and Eastern Partnership states, and discussed plans for cooperation between civil society organizations for the next several years. The Forum’s program also included various thematic discussions, bilateral meetings and consultations.

DiXi Group President Olena Pavlenko attended the Assembly as a member of the Working Group 3 of the Energy, Transport and Environment Forum. During the Working Group’s meeting, the participants worked out common priorities for their activities and the possible topics for cooperation in the next few years. The energy sector contains a lot of such priorities falling within the area of DiXi Group’s activity, in particular, increasing transparency of the extractive sector, implementation of European legislation in the energy sector, attention to energy security of Eastern Partnership member states.

An annual analytical report by Energy Reforms coalition which monitors implementation of the Association Agreement in the energy sector, prepared with the support from the EU, was also disseminated during the meeting.

“The six Eastern Partnership member states have a lot of common topics for cooperation.  The availability of information regarding the state of affairs in the energy sector, transition to the use of “clean” energy sources and enhancement of energy security are very important for all of us. At the same time, the neighbor states which signed Association Agreements with the European Union have additionally declared ambitious plans and goals for integration with the European Union. The citizens of these countries are fully supportive of this initiative and ready to help with integration of energy sectors,” Olena Pavlenko stressed.

The Eastern Partnership has the goal of approximating six neighboring states in the East – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine – to the EU. Every year, the Eastern Partnership Forum gathers over 200 representatives of civil society, stakeholders and key decision makers.
