President of the DiXi Group analytical center, Olena Pavlenko, spent three weeks in the United States to disseminate experience, establishment of cooperation of the analytical center with new partners and participation in a training on the implementation of goals of sustainable development in the extractive industries organized by the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment at Columbia university.
During her visit to Washington, Olena Pavlenko met with representatives of the World Bank and the IMF on the adoption of the Draft Law No. 6229 on enhancing the transparency of the extractive sector and implementing the Directive 2013/34/EU on financial reporting in Ukraine. Also, Olena Pavlenko presented the main initiatives and projects implemented by DiXi Group in Ukraine today. Individual meetings with potential partners were devoted to the possibilities of launching new joint projects in Ukraine.
The training at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment focused on the implementation of the goals of sustainable development in the extractive industries, both oil and gas and mining. During the two-week training, topics such as long-term projections for the mining sector development, regulation practices of extractive industries at the national level, fiscal regimes for extractive sector regulation, negotiations and multilateral dialogue in the extractive sector were discussed. The obtained information is planned to be used during further advocacy of the reform of the oil and gas sector of Ukraine, in particular for legislative changes and improvement of regulation of the sector.
The trip was undertaken with the support of the USAID “Transparent Energy” project (visit to Washington) and the OSIFE grant for institutional development (training at Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment).
