Olena Pavlenko, President of DiXi Group, and Anton Antonenko, Vice President of DiXi Group, took part in a high-level conference on strategic partnership between Ukraine and the EU in the energy sector. Speakers at the conference included Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv, representatives of the Ministry of Energy, directors of the leading Ukrainian companies, namely: NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, NEC Ukrenergo, Energoatom, Energorynok, etc.
During the event, the participants discussed the situation with reforms in Ukraine and priorities on which the Government should focus in reforming the energy sector in 2017. According to Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, it is extremely important to focus on completing the reform of the gas market, including the unbundling of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, and adopt the law on electricity market, which is currently awaiting its second reading in the Parliament. The Ukrainian party, as represented by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv, assured of the maximum speed of reforms and further implementation of European legislation in Ukraine. The companies, in their turn, focused on the necessity to continue the mutual integration of energy markets of Ukraine and the EU and develop not only the gas and electricity sector, but also the sectors of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
"Today it is important to create new platforms for discussion between the partners of Ukraine and the EU. This will help the companies to better understand each other, as well as encourage government officials, experts and other stakeholders to "remain on the same page" in jointly determining reform priorities, planning solutions. These discussions help to get the most objective assessment of the situation regarding what happens with the reform of the energy sector," said Olena Pavlenko.
