The Draft Law on the Regulator to be Considered During This Plenary Week

Mykola Martynenko, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety, proposed MPs to pass a decision on the Draft Law No. 2966 (on the Regulator) during this plenary week. It happened during the Coordination Board.

According to Olena Pavlenko, President, DiXi Group Analytical Centre, there is a risk that the Draft Law will not be considered due to lack of time. “It is important that the civil society representatives monitored the voting and insisted on the consideration of the Draft Law No. 2966 during this plenary week. Let’s do it, it is not good to leave old debts for New Year”, noted Olena Pavlenko.

It should be mentioned that at the beginning of September, the Strategic Advisory Group was announced to be established with involvement of top-notch Ukrainian and international experts and MPs. The Group is finalizing the Draft Law No. 2966 “On the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission”.

While working in the Group, the experts analysed over 190 comments to the Draft Law. The activities of the Strategic Advisory Group were made possible with the support of the “Promotion of Establishment of the Independent Regulator in Ukraine” project, jointly implemented by DiXi Group and the International Renaissance Foundation.

It should also be mentioned that the final version of the Draft Law No. 2966 was reviewed by the Energy Community Secretariat.
