• Even though the expected liberalization of the retail gas market for households is less than a month away, the government shows no signs of serious activity, in particular as regards ensuring guaranteed gas supply…
• The intentions to expand the U.S. sanctions against Nord Stream 2 aim ruling out any possibility for Gazprom to physically complete the project construction… Amid these developments, Ukraine is actively developing its gas transit and storage services…
• Public statements and media reports indicated a growing tension in discussions between the government and representatives of the renewable energy sector…
• Efforts aimed to resolve the electricity market crisis are driven by the tactic of “small steps” which, however, are unsystematic and very cautious…
• The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a telling case of multi-stakeholder cooperation with participation of civil society, which demonstrates effectiveness despite the difficulties caused by structural changes in the government… 
• In the meantime, experts estimate that the process of splitting the former Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection will continue for another month or so…
